iwmrby: but maybe I'm wrong, maybe the way the `matrix` is written is arranged to make this legitimate. It's a little confusing ...

michaelt: yup, a little confusing. I decided I shall use let because it works for now. If I hit this problem again sometime, I will look into it more.

michaelt: thanks a lot for your help and for trying to find a solution!

does anyone use haskell on Mac OS? i wrote an application which reads from serial port. this works great unter linux, but in OSX i get EOFs too early after opening the port and reading from it.
c_wraith 2017-02-04 05:20:14
I've used it lots on os x
c_wraith 2017-02-04 05:20:21
But I've never worked with serial ports
c_wraith 2017-02-04 05:20:25
What interface are you using?
tfc 2017-02-04 05:20:46
that is a PL2302 rs232serial to USB converter.
tfc 2017-02-04 05:21:08
and i use the "serial" haskell package
tfc 2017-02-04 05:21:48
results are as expected in linux, but in osx i have those premature EOFs. that drives me mad, because i have no idea what to do differently from haskell side.
c_wraith 2017-02-04 05:22:11
I'm betting the serial package wasn't tested on os x
tfc 2017-02-04 05:22:35
hm that's possible.
tfc 2017-02-04 05:23:13
with apps like "picocom" i can successfully read from the serial file. just with haskell (in osx) there are problems.
tfc 2017-02-04 05:23:26
maybe there's some extra flag needed when opening the port, but i have no clue.
